The beloved Channel 5 period drama All Creatures Great and Small is set to return this autumn, and first look images as well as new casting details have been unveiled for its highly anticipated sixth series. James Herriot and the gang are back in the Yorkshire Dales for the most heartwarming show on tele.

Based on James Herriot’s classic books and filmed against the stunning backdrop of the Yorkshire Dales, the show is a staple in our house. Produced by BAFTA and Golden Globe-winning Playground in association with MASTERPIECE on PBS and All3Media International, the new series will once again blend gentle humour, touching drama, and animal adventures.
Series 6 sees the residents of Darrowby adjusting to life in 1945, as the war in Europe draws to a close. With veterinary medicine advancing, families expanding, and new opportunities on the horizon, the Skeldale House gang must navigate both change and tradition in a community looking toward a more hopeful future.

Returning to their roles are Nicholas Ralph as James Herriot, Samuel West as Siegfried Farnon, Anna Madeley as Mrs Hall, Rachel Shenton as Helen Herriot, Callum Woodhouse as Tristan Farnon, Patricia Hodge as Mrs Pumphrey (with her pampered Pekingese Tricki), Tony Pitts as Richard Alderson, and Imogen Clawson as Jenny Alderson.
They will be joined by a host of new faces: Lucy-Jo Hudson from Hollyoaks, Gaia Wise from The Dead of Winter, Jonathan Hyde from Titanic, Philip Martin Brown, from Waterloo Road, and Chris Gascoyne from Coronation Street. Familiar guest stars including Mollie Winnard, Conor Deane, Cat Simmons and Lamin Touray are also set to return.

The upcoming series will consist of six hour-long episodes and a Christmas Special. It will air on Channel 5 in the UK in autumn 2025.

Commissioned alongside series 5 in 2024, this new chapter continues to draw on Herriot’s timeless books, which have sold over 60 million copies worldwide. While an exact launch date is yet to be confirmed, fans can catch up on series 1–5 now streaming on My5 here.
