ITV Classic ‘The Bill’ Is Set To Return With Original Cast To Reprise Roles

Fancy a huge hit of nostalgia? No unfortunately Heartbeat is not coming back, but another popular ITV series is. After being axed back in 2010, it is set to come back the gang from Sun Hill with the popular show The Bill to grace our screens again.

A staple for many budding actors back in the day, including Yorkshire’s own Sean Bean, was on our screens for over a quarter of a century starting back in 1983.

The show could be back as early as next year with the original cast, according to reports. First, the cast of Full Monty return for a new series and now PC Tony tamp, DC Carver and Sergeant Juna Ackland will be back on our screens. What a time to be alive.

It’s claimed that if it was to be rebooted it would be a mix of the original fan favourites and a new cast.

The actors collaborated with writer Simon Sansome for a revival on ITV last year. And, a source told The Sun at the time: ‘The project started picking up pace last year after the cast got together to mark ten years since the show last aired.’

Now it seems that a new version of the show may be in the development stages with UKTV after they aired the entire first five series in lockdown.

The Sun reports: ‘In the minds of many producers and execs, The Bill is a drama which is just sitting, waiting, to be rebooted.

‘It’s a simple format but one which attracted a loyal army of followers who would be delighted to see it return.’
