Kevin Sinfield’s 230 Mile Christmas Fundraising Challenge To Visit Yorkshire

Absolute rugby legend, Kevin Sinfield has started his fifth fundraiser to raise money for motor neurone disease (MND) in memory of his teammate and friend Rob Burrow, who died earlier this year in June, aged 41. The 44-year-old started yesterday with the Liverpool annual Santa Dash running with more than 8,000 participants along the famous waterfront.

Today, he will be running from Gloucester to Bristol. He’ll run 230 miles in total across the seven days across the UK. On the 5th December, he’ll be visiting East Yorkshire running from Beverley to Hull. He’ll be running 50km a day for a week with each run broken down into hour-long 7km legs as a nod to Burrow’s shirt number, finishing in his hometown of Saddleworth, Oldham on Saturday, according to The Sun.

Members of the MND community will join Sinfield in the Running Home for Christmas challenge passing through other places across the UK including Wrexham, Belfast and Glasgow. The incurable condition affects the brain and nerves and is more common among people in their 60s and 70s.

Rob Burrows, who played for Leeds Rhinos was diagnosed with MND in 2019, after retiring from rugby back in 2017. Sinfield has helped raise £16million since Burrow, was diagnosed.

The BBC reported that Sinfield told BBC Breakfast: “I think it’s important we’re doing justice – I want to represent the Burrow family the best we can but also the MND family “They keep surprising us with some of the things they tell us and, through that, we get energy and want to push on even more.”
