Met Office Has Issued Urgent ‘Danger To Life’ Snow Warning For Yorkshire

Looks like we are in for another load of snow as The Met Office has issued urgent ‘danger to life’ weather warning for the UK including Yorkshire, which could hit in a matter of hours. The amber alerts are for February 8th with Wales and the Midlands also amongst regions set to be affected, according to the Express.

WXCharts forecasters say that a think blanket of snow will hit these areas in the North of England and Scotland whist the rest of the country will experience wet and windy weather tomorrow. The snowfall is said to carry on into Friday in the North of the UK with thickest layers hitting Manchester and Newcastle.

Most of Yorkshire is covered by the warning including Leeds, Bradford, Huddersfield, Sheffield and York.

Amber warnings mean that you should expect travel delays on the roads with stranding of vehicles and passengers likely. Other possible disruptions include power cuts which can affect mobile phone coverage and other services.

Also rail and air travel can expect some delays and cancellations with a good change of rural communities being temporarily cut off, according to The Met Office.

As well as the Amber Warning, there is a yellow warning for both snow and ice. The Met Office said when issuing these warnings: “Snow is expected to develop during Thursday morning and become persistent and at times heavy by the afternoon before slowly easing through the evening.
