1. Woodies Craft Ale House
This traditional ale house is filled with Smurfs, the Mario Brothers, and more fancy dress outfits. This pub is the first on the infamous pub crawl and is always filled with fresh faces buzzing to get stuck into a whole lot for booze on the Otley Run.
The pub has a range of great ales as well as ciders, cocktails and more. Get down early to beat the crowds as this one is a busy one – and you’re in for a long day. Woodies Craft Ale House, 107 Otley Road, Headingley, Leeds, West Yorkshire, LS16 5JG.
2. The Three Horseshoes
Just down the road from Woodies is the second pub, The Three Horseshoes. Climb up these steps and into a chic pub with a whole host of beers, shots and spirits for you to try.
This pub is a great spacious place where you can enjoy mixing with others on the Otley run. If the sun is shining, there is space outside to take pictures and have fun. The Three Horseshoes, 98 Otley Road, Headingley, Leeds, West Yorkshire, LS16 5JG.
3. The New Inn
Needing a loo break yet? The third pub is just down the road and has a great selection of lagers, cask ales and G&Ts to keep everyone on the crawl happy – it’s another classic traditional pub that is always welcoming and ready to serve up a few ales. They even have cocktails on tap if you’re feeling that way inclined. There is a little seating area out front and plenty of seats inside. The New Inn, 68 Otley Road, Headingley, Leeds, West Yorkshire, LS6 4BA.
4. The Headingley Taps
Your first bit of a walk between pubs is here! Head past Sainsbury and cross turn right at KFC, and head across the traffic lights down the road on your left you’ll find your next haunt. The Headingley Taps has a huge beer garden, and the pub is also spacious. You can head to the bar and enjoy your next round! Whether it’s pint number four or more. The Headingley Taps, Bennett Road, Headingley, Leeds, West Yorkshire, LS6 3HN.
Head left out of the pub, and across the road, you’ll spot your next venue. This is the first that differs from a traditional pub. It is a cool cocktail bar where they serve up a range of great cocktails, perfect if you’re starting to feel bloated after a few bevs.
They also have some decent beers on tap if you’re still feeling fresh. It’s a big ol’ space that has some games like shuffleboard. Manahatta, 19 Ash Road, Headingley, Leeds, West Yorkshire, LS6 3JJ.
6. The Box
Head back to the main road and take a right, and across the road, you will see The Box, a busy sports bar that is usually packed during the Otley Run, so you won’t struggle to find it. The bar serves a range of beers, ciders and spirits – and is a great place to grab some food if you’re needing a quick snack at this point in the day.
They have a beer garden upstairs at the back and a seating area out at the front if you’re looking to catch the sun. The Box, 8 Otley Road, Headingley, Leeds, West Yorkshire, LS6 2AD.
7. The Skyrack
Leave the bar and cross to the other side of the road. Walk down, and on your right, you will come to Skyrack, which is another traditional pub. You can expect similar vibes as previous pubs with a range of beers, ciders and spirits on offer. There is a beer garden where you can enjoy some of the sun, and it’s also quite a good place to start if you’re not wanting to do all of the pubs on the Otley Run. The Skyrack, 2-4 St Michael’s Road, Headingley, Leeds, West Yorkshire, LS6 3AW.
8. The Original Oak
The Orignal Oak is just a stone’s throw from Skyrack – across the road. It boasts one of the biggest beer gardens you have ever seen, and because of that, the inside is a little hard to remember from our recollection of the Otley Runs we’ve been on in our time on this earth. They do have some great beers, that much we know, and if you’re ever looking for somewhere to watch sports, this is the bar for you. The Original Oak, 2 Otley Road, Headingley, Leeds, West Yorkshire, LS6 2DG.
9. The Hyde Park
Get your walking boots on as this is the furthers you’ll have had to walk so far! Head out of The Original Oak and go left, follow the Otley Road passed the new Wetherspoons, which is not on the Otley Run and will not let people on the run inside. You’ll finally come to a crossroads where you’ll be greeted by The Hyde Park pub.
This venue is another spacious place with a decent beer garden out front if you fancy staying outside. It has a long bar, which is needed as it tends to get a bit busy at this point in the pub crawl as people start to slow down when moving on to the next pub. The Hyde Park, 2 Headingley Lane, Headingley, Leeds, West Yorkshire, LS6 2AS.
10. The Library
Head out of the pub and cross the road and follow it through Leeds, Hyde Park. On the right-hand side is the legendary pub, The Library, and this old pub has seen a few things.
It’s a great student pub during the rest of the week, but on the weekends when the Otley Run is in full flow it is full of revealers in fancy dress. Head over to the bar and get stuck into a range of bevvies. The Library, 229 Woodhouse Lane, Leeds, West Yorkshire, LS2 3AP.
11. The Packhorse
You’re on the home straight now as we are heading straight across the road to The Packhorse. Whenever we’ve done the Otley Run, this is when people start to stray off and start missing pubs. If you manage to make your way in, you’ll find a great little boozer that serves up a great selection of ales. The Packhorse, 208 Woodhouse Lane, Leeds, West Yorkshire, LS2 9DX.
12. The Eldon
Tumble out of the pub and head a little further down the road past Mahmoods into The Eldon, a traditional English pub that serves some great ales and has old fashion pub vibes that make this place a great pub.
Nearing the end of the Otley Run, this part can become quite fuzzy, but it is a quaint pub that has the old fashion vibes of a real ale pub and sells decent beer, which makes a change from the Fosters and Corrs Light you’ll have been drinking up until this point. The Eldon, 190 Woodhouse Lane, Leeds, West Yorkshire, LS2 9DX.
13. Leeds University Union
While there are two drinking spots at Leeds University Union – Terrace and Old Bar – they only count as one. As your once-strong posse of Otley Runners may be down to the hardcore at this point, take solace in the fact that you only need to get one drink here. Terrace, as the name suggests, has a large outdoor area, as well as an indoor bar for when the weather is less kind – go here for classic cocktails and bar snacks.
Old Bar is a different proposition entirely. Open since 1939, it’s more of a traditional student pub, with a pool table, quizzes and big screens showing the latest sport. Leeds University Union, Lifton Place, Leeds, West Yorkshire, LS2 9JZ.
14. The Fenton
As you head towards Leeds Beckett Uni, you will come across The Fenton, the last of the traditional Otley Run pubs. It has a wrap-around bar filled full of great bevs if you have the stomach for it by this point. The Fenton, 161-165 Woodhouse Lane, Leeds, West Yorkshire, LS2 3ED.
15. The Dry Dock
Hurray! You’ve finished! And, no, you’re not seeing things – one of the quirkiest Otley Run Pubs – it is a boat. It’s just as cool inside, and the roof terrace is on top of the bar where you can enjoy your success in finishing the iconic Leeds pub crawl, The Otley Run! The Dry Dock, Woodhouse Lane, Leeds, West Yorkshire, LS2 3AX.
