Yorkshire folk know their grub, and the proof is in the pudding as yet another one of its eateries is awarded for serving up delicious grub. This time it’s Shibden Mill Inn, which is found hidden in West Yorkshire in Anne Lister territory, Halifax.
Just a stone’s throw from the famous Shibden Hall, the pub is steeped in history as it was formerly owned by Anne Lister’s lover. This award-winning gastropub serves up tasty delights that are sure to please all.

Writing about the pub, the Great British Pub Awards pointed out the ‘plethora of wines, various gins and whiskies and a Cask Marque-accredited ales, the pub has a wide drinks offer for a raft of guests.’
The pub won the award for Best Pub for Food, and was also praised for its location commenting on the stunning views across West Yorkshire and the Shibden Estate.’

‘Located on the outskirts of Halifax, the pub, which also has 1 individually styled bedrooms, was converted in 1890 from a corn and spinning mill. ‘



It discussed the food saying: “Across its seven menus (including breakfast), diners can taste pub classics such as steak and Estrella-battered haddock, alongside dishes featuring salt-aged beef loin, basil gnocchi and mushroom hotdog. Recently, the Shibden Mill took home the title of Foodie’s Favourite in the 2022 Estrella Damm Top 50 Gastropubs list and holds an AA five star status.”
Along with the fish & chips, which looks superb, the pub take care on every dish, even their breakfast looks unreal. We’ve definitely added it to one of the places we need to try – and we are sure you’ll do the same.
