One of the major energy firms in the UK is handing our free electric blankets to keep customers warm this winter as energy costs continue to increase.
Not only that but, customers struggling with the strain can get free smart thermostats to help with bills, according to The Sun. And, with energy prices rising from £1971 to £2,500 in October in the average household it could really help.
Ovo Energy is handing its 1.5 million customers free electric blankets and smart thermostats to help those households that are struggling.
Electric blankets can be great to save and stay warm this winter. Instead of relying on central heating an electric blanket is seen as a cheaper alternative and can be picked up for around £30.

Ovo Energy’s £50 million customer support package which launched back in October to help those in need offers up two electric blankets and a smart thermostat per household.

Households can also get a free boiler service and a discounted boiler as part of the help as well. It’s already given out over 13,000 blankets and 1,700 thermostats.
Any Ovo customer can apply for the support which includes debt repayment holidays for all prepayment customers. They take into account things like household income, disposable income and medical needs.
The best way to check what is available to you is to get in touch with your provider and speak to their online advisers. Other energy suppliers are running similar schemes to help out their customers with Octopus also offering free electric blankets for those in need.
