York Marina has been given permission to expand and create a beautiful Winter Garden restaurant in order to enhance revenue, which has been impacted by the pandemic. Images of what the York Marina Winter Garden café and restaurant, will look like have been released and they look magical.
The marina’s owners claim that the restaurant will have a “great view” and will create jobs. The new restaurant and cafe will serve food and drink from a dining space that will overlook the River Ouse.
Set to cater for up to 130 diners, the owners said the new restaurant would be a “high spec, slim frame, aluminium and glass ‘winter garden’ restaurant”.
“The Marina has suffered over the last 20 months from the downturn in the hospitality trade, due to the Covid-19 pandemic. But has adapted its catering trade to offer well ventilated outdoor dining,” planning documents state.
It would be “a well-ventilated safe space, and thus attract more visitors and allow the Marina to offer an event service”.
It will cater for up to 130 diners, and come complete with a new bar, offering great views of the River Ouse from the Naburn site.
This month’s planner gave the go-ahead for the development, and now the marina has shared more images of how it will look.
And people can’t wait to go. “Great news – looking forward to spending time in there,” wrote one person.
Another said: “Certainly moved on from the old coffee percolator Mr Poole had and three chairs. Looks brilliant, can’t wait.”
In September, they hope to begin work on the project.
