York’s Top Hotel Set To Spend £2.5m To Create Luxury City Centre Spa

The Grand York was once the “Palace of Business” for the North Eastern Railway Company – one of the most powerful businesses in Great Britain at the time. Sitting just inside the York Walls, it’s a stunning piece of architecture and houses the five-star hotel that has announced plans to create a luxury city centre spa.

The new spa is an ‘exciting new chapter’ for the hotel. As it stands currently, The Grand is a destination hotel where all your needs are catered for with two stunning restaurants and a fabulous bar area where you can relax away from the hustle and bustle of busy city life in York. It’s got all of York’s top destinations on its doorstep and is a short walk from the wonderful Lendal Bridge which has the most beautiful views overlooking the River Ouse.

To create this new space, it The Grand will convert two bedrooms into treatment rooms.

The relaxation spaces will be expanded, advanced wellness technologies introduced and a restaurant area will be added for spa day package holders. The works will start next month when the hotel’s spa will close with the new facilities set to open in early 2026.

Whilst the spa is closed guests will not go without they can enjoy options including in-room gym kits, Grand running routes and the use of Grand bicycles giving guests a chance to explore the city in a different way.
