Stephen Merchant will feature as the ‘Grindr Killer’ in a new BBC Drama ‘Four Lives’. The three-part series will tell the story of Stephen Port, who killed four young men between June 2014 and September 2015, one of which was Anthony Walgate a 23 year old sfashion student from Hull.
The serial killer and rapist were sentenced to life in prison back in November 2016. The BBC drama tells the story of the friends and families of the murdered boys as they try tried to find justice in the face of a now widely condemned police investigation.

These victims of Stephen Port were named Anthony Walgate, Gabriel Kovari, Daniel Whitworth and Jack Taylor. ‘Four Lives’ follows the story of the families of his victims as they seek justice an incompetent police investigation.
Stephen Port was described by those who knew him as strange and childlike, and spiked his victims with the date-rape drug GHB and then proceeded to rape and kill them.

A fashion student from Hull, Anthony Walgate was the first victim of the serial killer and was killed on June 19, 2014. He had made contact with Port two days before and visit the killer’s flat on 19th June, where he was spiked with a fatal overdose of GHB.
The parents of Walgate Sarah and Thomas believed that crucial details and witnesses were overlooked and that there was an attitude of indifference, and stated that the police inquiry surrounding their son’s death was ‘a travesty’.
Sheridan Smith will play the mother of the Hull student, Sarah Sak in the upcoming series. Other members of the cast include: Tim Preston as Anthony Walgate, Jakub Svec as Gabriel Kovari, Leo Flanagan as Daniel Whitworth, while Paddy Rowan as Jack Taylor.
This was suggested also in a BBC documentary broadcast in March 2017 that hinted at a “catalogue of police failings” in the Met’s response to the deaths.
The three-part BBC drama starts tomorrow, Monday,3rd January at 9pm on BBC One. There will be three hour-long episodes airing in the first week of January.
