The sequel we’ve had to wait 22 years to see has finally got a release date – and we cannot wait for that huge hit of nostalgia.
“I don’t wanna be a pie – I don’t like gravy!” – said every school kid over and over again upon the 2000 release of hit stop-animation.
The news of the Chicken Run sequel was announced by Netflix last year and the creators have Aardman have taken to social media to announce the news.
Posting to Aardman social media they wrote: “We’re excited to share that Chicken Run: Dawn of the Nugget will have its World Premiere at this year’s London Film Festival!
“Directed by Sam Fell, The Mayor of London’s Gala will screen the film at the Southbank Centre’s Royal Festival Hall and in cinemas across the UK on Saturday 14th October.
“BFI London Film Festival 2023 takes place 4-15 October. Chicken Run: Dawn of the Nugget debuts globally on Netflix on 15th December 2023.”
Peter Lord and Wallace and Gromit creator Nick Park will return at the helm for the sequel, bringing their iconic clay stop-motion animation that can be seen in not only Wallace and Gromit and Chicken Run, but Shaun the Sheep and Flushed Away.
And while Mel Gibson and Julia Sawalha will not return, Netflix has announced a number of big names for the film – including Thandiwe Newton, Zachary Levi and Bella Ramsey.
It’s a fantastic cast starring Thandiwe Newton (Ginger), Zachary Levi (Rocky), Bella Ramsey (Molly), Imelda Staunton (Bunty), Lynn Ferguson (Mac), David Bradley (Fowler), Jane Horrocks (Babs), Romesh Ranganathan (Nick), Daniel Mays (Fetcher), Josie Sedgwick-Davies (Frizzle), Nick Mohammed (Dr Fry),
