Father-Son Duo Bradley & Barney Walsh Set To Host Gladiators Reboot

One of the biggest nostalgic hits many of us will receive, The Gladiators is set to return and it has been announced that Bradley Walsh and son Barney will host.

The BBC announced that they would be rebooting the series last year. The original series was broadcast on ITV, where Bradley hosts the popular quiz show The Chase.

The BBC is hoping the show will be a hit with audiences as a lot of reboots have taken off over the last few years. The new series will be filmed in Sheffield Arena.

The programme, previously popular for pitting contestants against characters including Wolf, Jet and Hunter, appeared on ITV from 1992 to 2000, before being resurrected on Sky One in 2008 and 2009.

Bradley Walsh said: “Wow! I can’t believe that I’ve been asked to be part of this iconic show. I used to sit backstage, or in the audience, every week watching my wife be part of this juggernaut and now I get to co-host a new version of Gladiators!!! Saturday night family entertainment at its best.”

Barney Walsh said: “Gladiators has been a massive part of our family and it’s an honour to be asked to co-host this iconic show. I’m so excited for everyone to see the spectacle, elite athletes and fantastic family entertainment that is Gladiators.”

The new series will be an 11-part energy-packed run with new superhuman Gladiators ready for contenders to pit themselves against.

The new series will also have new games along with fan favourites such as the Duel, Hang Though and of course The Eliminator with the infamous balance beam and reverse treadmill.

It will now return on BBC One. In a statement, Kate Phillips, director of unscripted at the BBC, said: “A new generation of viewers can now look forward to watching a Saturday night spectacle like no other.”
