This Yorkshire Water Park With Its Own Beach & Café Is A Hidden Gem

We are in the midst of a heatwave in the UK at the moment, and it’s fair to say that us Yorkshire folk are looking to cool down. And, what better way to chill than at this water park in West Yorkshire with its very own beach, along with a play area and cafe that has a fantastic carvery on Sundays.

Hemsworth Water Park and Playworld in Wakefield is a fantastic find for anyone that happens upon it. It features two lakes, the largest of which has pedalo rides for just and a small sandy beach that proves popular.

If you want a spot on the beach you’ll have to get down to Hemsworth Water Park early. The large lake is surrounded by trees with plenty of grass perfect for a picnic and playing if you don’t manage to reach the beach.

If you’re a fan of fishing then you’ll be happy to note that both lakes are stocked and offer fishing options throughout the year.

The Playworld at Hemsworth is a great outdoor adventure playground that’s suitable for all age groups with a tower slide climbing frames and a sandpit for toddlers to play in.

Don’t worry if you forget your bucket and spade, The Lakeside Café Bar & Beach Shop is stocked with a great selection of things for you to entertain your kids with. The shop also sells ice creams, hot and cold food and drinks and much much more.

The Sunday carvery is apparently great with one TripAdvisor user said: “Sunday carvery, cannot praise enough. Home made and you can tell by the quality. Three choices of meat or steak pie. I take the Grandchildren to the inside play area sometimes on a Sunday and order three takeaway carveries to treat the family.”

The cafe & bar is fully licensed if you’re needing something beer or wine to cool off in the summer sun. They even sell doggy ice cream to keep your pooch cool, so there is something for the whole family.

If you’d like to visit Hemsworth Water Park, it is situated off the B6273 which links the A628 in Hemsworth with the A638 at Nostell. The car park is open daily from 8.30am, closing at 6.30pm in the summertime.
