Leeds Shopping Centre ‘Magical’ Festive Grotto & Ice Rink Set To Return This Christmas

The Leeds shopping centre White Rose is bringing out all the stops this year including a massive ice rink with a capacity of 250 skaters per session, which is outdoors and undercover along with a whole host of festive treats.

The huge ice rink will be decorated for Christmas in beautiful twinkling fairy lights and with decorated trees lining the centre, there is also a beautiful winter blue glow making the whole place seem like a winter wonderland.

Last year’s ice rink was made of real ice and the venue will be hosted a range of fun-filled nights such as Disco Nights, parent and toddler sessions, quiet sessions and more. So hopefully this year will be more of the same.

For those who need it, there will be penguin and seal skating aids will be available for little ones, as well as bob skates to help guests stay steady.

Along with the ice rink is the return of its popular Christmas grotto outside The Village where families will be invited to meet Santa Christmas Eve. Who knows, if you’ve been good this year Santa may even give you a little something to take home with you!

It will also hold sensory-friendly sessions from 10am – 10.30am every Tuesday throughout December and during White Rose’s weekly Quiet Hours from 10am – 12pm.

Steven Foster, Centre Director at White Rose Shopping Centre, said: “Christmas is truly one of the most magical times of the year here at White Rose, and we’re so excited to unveil our brand new Christmas decorations to our guests.

“Our grotto is sure to get visitors in the Christmas spirit and, alongside hundreds of shops and restaurants, plus free thousands of free parking spaces, White Rose is the perfect festive family day out.

“Guests will also be pleased to see the return of our outdoor ice rink this year. Thankfully skate aids are on-hand for those of us that need them, and our restaurants in The Village will be serving refreshments to warm up chilly skaters.”

Tuesday November 21st until Sunday January 7th, with special events and bundles yet to be announced. Booking is advised, which you can do via the website here.
