Nestlé Trials Quality Street Paper Tubs In Certain Tesco Stores

Christmas is around the corner, which means snacking on chocolates, cheese and other Christmassy picky bits, And, speaking of chocolate one of the top-tier crimbo chocolate companies is shaking things up with its packaging.

Nestle is scrapping its traditional purple plastic tubs for Quality Street and opting for a new paper alternative instead. The new box will still be in the eight-sided box with a cartoon design of al the tasty chocolates inside and of course the iconic Quality Street logo. The tubs are described as having a luxurious design and feel with gold foil detailing.

You’ll be able to reseal the tubs and once they’re empty they can be tossed into the regular household recylcing, according to the Mirror. If you’re unsure about the new paper Quality Street tubs, which aim to reduce the companies reliance on virgin plastic, you can still buy the normal ones as usual.

Last year, Quality Street made a similar chance when it swapped its plastic wrappers for recyclable ones.

Jemma Handley, Senior Brand Manager for Quality Street, expressed excitement about the new initiative: “We’re looking forward to seeing what Quality Street fans make of the paper tub. A lot of care and hard work has gone into the trial and we’re proud to be the first major manufacturer to trial a paper tub at Christmas.

“The beautiful design has been devised specifically for a paper product and we love how it looks, and of course, shoppers can expect the same great tasting Quality Street sweets that they know and love inside.”

She continued “We know there are some Quality Street fans who, controversially, like to put their wrappers back in the tub once they’ve eaten them – with the paper tub, they can put the paper wrappers back for a good reason – it can go straight into the recycling.”

Nestle’s chance is part of a change int he industry moving to more sustainable practices.
