And, the tea room has now been named in the world’s top places to grab a dessert, which is very impressive.
The TasteAtlas website is dedicated to the best food and drink from across the globe and it recently published a tasty desserts piece for the best places from around the globe and Bettys Cafe, which has been open for more than 100 years was named 31st best place to grab a unique and special dessert.
The website praised Bettys ‘elegant interiors and delightful selection of pastries and teas.’ Anyone from Yorkshire knows that if you’re going to the Harrogate spot, then you have to try its signature dish the Fat Rascal, which is a type of cake filled with dried fruit, almonds and cherries and is best enjoyed with lashings of butter and a brew.
The history of Bettys is its charm, it’s still proudly independent with third, fourth and fifth generations working together to stay true to the original vision of quality craftsmanship and attention to detail, which has surely helped the popular cafe’s longevity and helped make it into this year’s list.
It’s not only this tasty spot that Harrogate is known for though. It was recently named best staycation spot in the UK by AA. They take into account things such as accommodation options, local contentment scores, availability of parking, petrol stations, and electric vehicle charging points, which are all factors. Harrogate rated 7.8 out of 10 in happiness and other factors.
