An outbreak of the Coronavirus infection has been confirmed at Wensleydale Creamery, the producers of the famous cheese, with five members of staff testing positive for COVID-19.
The members of staff have been confirmed as workers based in the creamery’s production area, with the remainder of staff now being tested as a precaution.

Speaking of the outbreak, a spokesperson from Wensleydale Creamery said: “Five colleagues who work within our production area have tested positive for Covid-19. We have responded quickly, working collaboratively with Public Health England and North Yorkshire County Council, to provide tests for all members of our production team and ensure that effective and appropriate measures are in place to contain the spread of the virus.

Continuing: “There have been no cases detected at our separate Wensleydale Creamery visitor centre which remains fully open.” The creamery has put in place a number of COVID-safe precautions to allow them to continue operating, including increased sanitisation, social distancing, one-way systems and daily employee temperature checks.
The representative added: “We will continue to work closely with local authorities to ensure the safety of our staff, customers and visitors, and urge anyone experiencing symptoms to remain at home and self-isolate.”
The Wensleydale Creamery joins businesses such as Pretty Little Thing (Sheffield), Asda and a number of meat processing factories who have seen outbreaks within their warehouses and factories in Yorkshire.
