Two Yorkshire Places Have Been Named In Coolest Postcodes To Live In UK

Well, we are very happy with The Sunday Times latest article which featured the 11 coolest postcodes to live in the UK for 2025. And, two of them are in Yorkshire. One we are exceptionally excited to see on there is our favourite city Hull. The city also featured in the best staycation spots last year as well as an ‘up and coming’ place to move back in 2024. So if you’re looking to move or have a weekend away. You know where to go!

According to The Sunday Times, Hull and Leeds have been named the coolest places to live in the UK. Specifically the HU1 area of Hull. It says that the East Yorkshire city is “entering its glow-up era.” Commenting on what makes it so great the Times highlighted “The former fruit and veg markets and warehouses lining the city’s old marina are chock-a-block with independents, while its hipsterish dining scene is thronging with exciting openings.”

Also praising the city’s independent grassroots venue that has had the likes of Oasis, Radiohead and Fatboy Slim grace its stage.

When it comes to its food scene, we think Hull has some of the most exciting independent scenes compared to many of its larger counterparts (and we do eat out quite a bit here at The Yorkshireman). The article highlights Still located in the Old Town a stone’s throw from the iconic Princes Quay Shopping Centre, which serves up delicious coffees and natural wines as well as some small plates and pop-up nights. Social Distortion also gets a nod by serving up its delicious Asian-inspired small plates in its Punk Rock-esque venue.

Some others we’d like to add to this (a list that could go on) are the incredible Trinity Indoor Market, the amazing Brain Jar. which in our eyes, is Yorkshire’s best cocktail bar, Hearth bakery and restaurant and Flour and Feast for its amazing baked gods and incredible coffee shop vibes. Old Town and Fruit Market are a hipster’s paradise and a place we find ourselves drawn to again and again.

Farsley in Leeds also featured in the list. We’ve not been, so can only comment on what The Times enjoyed. Describing as the coolest place for ‘cool dads’ thanks to its micro-breweries, sourdough bakehouses and great live music. All of which it described as having “all the cultural catnip that hipster dads can’t get enough of.

It continues: “Once a sleepy suburb, this neighbourhood has become the focus for Birkenstock Boston-clad, Radio 6 Music-listening dads.”
