There’s still something magical about travelling by rail (forgetting delays and rail replacement exists for a minute). Watching the countryside fly by as you taking in the rolling landscapes still holds the same romantic feels as it will have back in the Victorian times in my view. Passing through busy cities, quaint market towns and little villages is a real treat and a great way to see the UK. And, this one journey is a real treat, the country’s longest railway journey that takes you from the Aberdeen in Scotland to to the Cornish coast taking a huge 13 hours and twenty minutes.
First launched in 1921, it’s great for those you want to discover the UK’s top hidden gems, and is passes through Yorkshire spots such as York, Leeds, Wakefield and Sheffield. Including the starting point, the journey has a massive 36 stops (with two hours spend stationary allowing passengers to alight along the way) where you can see some of the best views the UK has to offer right from you train window.

The 774-mile journey is a special bucket list kind of spot that is to be embraced. So take a flask, or something stronger and forget about planes and driving. Book a nice window seat and take in the journey from Aberdeen, a maritime city with stunning architecture and all the way down to the stunning coast. Obvisouly, we advise that you chose to stop off or even jump on from one of its fantastic Yorkshire stops. We don’t need to sell you guys on the beauty of York, the history of the Steel city of Sheffield or the cosmopolitan vibes of Leeds.
