‘Fairytale Of New York’ Has Been Named The Best Christmas Ever

It’s that time of year where we can shamelessly listen to Christmas songs and watch Christmas films all day – and we love it. But, with that comes the constant questions of best Christmas songs and best Christmas films (is Die Hard a Christmas film?). And, of course, there will never be an answer to this.

According to research by Ladbrokes LIVE, The Pogues and Kirsty MacColl controversial classic that tells the tale of a volatile relationship between two former lovers. Shane MacGowan singer of The Pogues past away on Thursday at the age of 65 and MacColl tragically died aged 41, but the song will forever cement them both in history.

It seems the folk song Fairy Tale of New York is still as popular beating out the likes of Last Christmas by Wham! and Mariah Carey’s All I Want For Christmas Is You. It’s no surprise to us, as it’s hard to not belt it out whenever it plays out on the radio.

Alex Apati of Ladbrokes LIVE said: “The bells will no doubt be ringing out for Shane MacGowan this year. We’d be amazed if Fairytale of New York – the nation’s favourite festive track – isn’t top of the charts come December 25th.”
