The sunny weather is here – and it seems like it’s not going anywhere. Fingers crossed. With that in mind, it’s time to start thinking about classic British holidays by the seaside. A lovely day at the beach is the perfect way to while away the sunny days. And, this Yorkshire beach has been named in the Independent’s latest list of favourite beaches.
But, what makes a the perfect beach holiday? Clear sands with plenty of space to relax, pleasant waters and recreation. It seems that Saltburn-by-the-Sea a classic example of a Victorian seaside town, has all these attributes as it made it to number three in the newspapers list. Saltburn beach with its miles of sand was praised with its ‘charm of a classic seaside’ as well as ‘the surf, with great breaks either side of the pier in winter and spring’. That paired with ‘a pint in The Ship’.

The recently refurbished luxurious hotel and spa Saltmoore in the nearby Sandsend was offered as the perfect hotel to really get the most out of a stay on the Yorkshire Coast.
In first place was another Northern beach, Bamburgh Beach, Northumberland, which was praised for scenic castle views, sand dunes, and proximity to the Holy Island of Lindisfarne. In second place was the southern beach of Lyme Regis, Dorset which was described as ‘a perfectly formed arc of golden sand that nestles amid cute, multi-coloured beach huts and food stalls that deploy the freshest seafood’.

We are real fans of Saltburn. It’s getting a real food scene behind it with the likes of the No. Twenty Three which prides itself on turning out authentic Neopolitan pizza. It also has the magnificent pier that stretches out into the sea and the old-fashioned cliff tram, which is the oldest of its kind.
