Two Yorkshire Contestants To Feature On New Channel 4 Show ‘The Inheritance’

Two Yorkshire contestants are set to appear in Channel 4’s brand-new reality competition The Inheritance, a high-stakes 12-part game that sees 13 strangers fight for a vast fortune left by a glamorous benefactor played by Elizabeth Hurley.

Brought to you by Studio Lambert and Channel 4, the show, which launches on Sunday, August 31st, transports viewers to a stately home where lavish interiors, sharp exchanges and devious challenges set the tone for a ruthless battle of wits. Contestants must navigate alliances, betrayals and moral dilemmas to claim their share of the wealth. Overseeing the proceedings is Robert Rinder, who plays the executor of Hurley’s estate.

The studio behind The Traitors describes this new show as a similar vein to the popular BBC show, with a part Knives Out, part Succession vibe.

Among those hoping to walk away with the prize money are two players from Yorkshire. First up is, Cam, otherwise known as CamsQuestions, who works in construction alongside making funny skits for social media, says he may not be the most competitive, but that doesn’t mean he’s any less determined to win.
“I think I can lift a team up in a stressful environment,” he said. “I’ve worked with scaffolders for years — big groups, big characters, and intense situations. I like to be the voice of reason.”

Joining him is Pat, a 75-year-old chess teacher who admits she only applied on a whim, but couldn’t turn down the chance once accepted. Far from slowing down, Pat keeps busy with gym classes, guided meditation, ghostwriting and, of course, competitive chess. “I’m a cancer survivor, so is my husband — there’s a lot I’ve seen and a lot I’ve done. I think what I would bring is wisdom. For me, it’s about the experience and being able to say I did that,” she explained.

But Pat also warns not to underestimate her. “I’ve got a master’s in strategic decision making. I am competitive as hell — I won’t even let my grandchildren win!” she laughed. If she makes it to the end, Pat already knows what she’d treat herself to: a new car.

With Hurley’s “Deceased” character setting cruel twists, and each task ending with only one contestant walking away with the cash, winning won’t come easily. As Channel 4’s Head of Reality, Steve Handley puts it, The Inheritance promises “a cocktail of drama, jeopardy and outright mischief that reality fans love.”

The first three episodes of The Inheritance will air across the launch week, starting Sunday, August 31st at 9pm on Channel 4, with the series continuing through September.
