28 Years Later Is Filming In Yorkshire – And Is Set To Star Jodie Comer

The third installment of Oscar-winning director Danny Boyle’s 28 Days Later franchise has been filming at two Yorkshire locations this week. The latest project, titled 28 Years Later, is set to star Killing Eve‘s Jodie Comer.

The BBC reports that filming took place at the UNESCO World Heritage site near Ripon, the beautiful Fountains Abbey, and Aysgarth Falls. The latter location is a place we’d head to during a zombie apocalypse, but that’s another story. Whilst taking a break from filming Comer, visited Oliver’s Pantry in the Ripon.

The franchise, which started back in 2002 and featured Oscar-winning actor Cillian Murphy, who is reportedly set to feature in the newest film, tells the story of a ‘rage virus’ that sweeps through the UK. The second film, which came out in 2007, was set 28 weeks later.

A National Trust spokesperson said: “Filming took place for three days on the Fountains Abbey and Studley Royal estate. It is a feature film directed by Danny Boyle. We look forward to sharing more details when we are in a position to do so. Appearing in a film allows Fountains Abbey to be seen and enjoyed by a large and often new audience, which in time can help to bring more people to the local area.”

Further scenes were filmed in the Yorkshire Dales National Park at locations including Aysgarth Falls and Redmire. A “bone temple” set was constructed next to the River Ure, and a public footpath was closed for the duration of the shoot.

The newest film in the trilogy is reportedly set to feature Aaron Taylor-Johnson (rumoured to be the next Bond), Ralph Fiennes, and Jack O’Connell in 28 Years Later.
